Method of Madness V2.0 The Art of Kris Weinmann

The holiday season quickly approaches and along with it holiday weather. We here at NATION wish to bring festive warmth to both your hearts and minds. With that we are happy to present the art of Kris Weinmann. His work offers a sense familiarity while still challenging concepts of perspective and medium.

From The Artist

I look to present the “familiar” on unfamiliar ground in an attempt to encourage the viewer to “see” rather then just “look”. I often find myself inquiring on compositional relationships in the world around me which as a result has compelled me to investigating how surfaces/textures, light, media and objects can have a visual dynamic when inquired upon and how artificial/man-made elements and infrastructure interact or relate to the natural world or vice-versa. In my most current body of work I have been experimenting with a visual language that employs these observations in conjunction with my appreciation for raw materials, expressive line, bold forms and references to social concerns like individuality and identity. My enthusiasm for my current work is largely driven by the idea that everyone will see something different and experience each piece in a uniquely personal way.
